Abstract: |
Teknoware Oy, established in 1972, was a European market leader in fluorescent lighting systems and inverters for commercial vehicles. Part of a larger Group, Teknoware was a classic example of a highly focused niche manufacturer of electronics. In 1995, the competition was increasing on the market and growth was hard to find. Decisions had to be made regarding future strategy.
The case could be used in an undergraduate business class or a graduate business class. It suits in a number of situations; International Business, Competitive Strategy, Small Business, Operations Management, etc. This case could be effective in making students consider the holistic nature and complexity of business in the SME/internationalization context. The B case is partly a follow-up case for the case A, partly a more detailed description on the activities of Teknoware. |
