Tiivistelmä: The International Olympic Committee faced a serious credibility crisis in the late 1998, when some members were accused and found guilty of improper conduct in relation to the award of 2002 Olympic Winter Games to Salt Lake City in 1995. President Samaranch’s continuing as President of The International Olympic Committee was at stake as well. After having received a vote of confidence, Samaranch was to decide the strategy he should follow in order to get the IOC out of the current crisis, which would also be a decisive factor as to what kind of IOC and Olympic Games the world would see in the future.
